Five Key Points To Remember When Arranging Your Bedroom Furniture
Big or small bedrooms function the same way and it will still contain the same type of bedroom furniture like the bed, the dresser, the closet and the night stand. Although big bedrooms have enough space for some other fixtures such as floor lamps and computer desks alongside the basic bedroom furniture, just because the room is big doesn't mean the occupant can just place the various bedroom furniture just anywhere and the same also goes for smaller bedrooms. To maximize or utilize the space, the furniture has to be arranged and here are some tips to help you out.
1. Choose a focal point. Yes, just like any other room of the house, your bedroom also needs a focal point. The focal point will serve as the center of attraction and other than that it also ties everything down. In the bedroom, the focal point is usually the bed. After you have chosen a focal point then you can start working from that point towards the other parts of your bedroom.
2. Size. Consider also the size of your furniture. Again, the size of the bedroom furniture should complement the size of the room. For example, if only person is occupying the room then a single bed should be enough for him or her and if a couple is staying in the room then they should consider a queen-sized bed. Buying bedroom furniture that is too big for the bedroom will surely use a lot of space.
3. Measure. Before you put any furniture inside the room, measure everything from the floor area to the area between windows as well as the width of the walls. List down the numbers you just measured because these numbers will surely help you create a mental note on where to place the different bedroom furniture as well as take note on the areas of the room this furniture can fit in.
4. Drawing. If you are not good with mental noting, perhaps putting it into paper might help you. Make a rough sketch of the whole bedroom. When you make a sketch, make it as big as possible. Once you have the sketch you can now draw the bedroom furniture on the area where you want to place it. Having a sketch will give you a clearer view on how your room will look like after you moved in all the furniture.
5. Placement. The bed is usually the largest bedroom furniture so when placing it in a bedroom make sure that it doesn't block any walkway or doorway and of course it should not block the closet. You can place the bed against the wall which is the best option if you have a rather small room and in case you have too much space in the bedroom, you can opt to put the bed in the middle just as long as it's not blocking anything.
If your room is small, avoid placing too many furniture in it because it will surely take up space. If you have a large room, then arrange your bedroom furniture in such a way that it will maximize the remaining space rather than eating it all up.
